I recently spent a weekend in London and as always wanted to share my recommendations.
Sights
Southwark: Tate modern, borough market, Thames. This is a really nice area to explore especially on a nice sunny day! The Tate modern is a must see if you are into modern art and also had great views of the city.
Second hand shopping
Brick Lane: super cool area of East London with graffiti on every wall, endless vintage shops and a market every Sunday. There is also tons of cool pubs and restaurants to try! I recommend visiting the Monty Bar which had great music and atmosphere.
Streets to check out: Brick Lane, Cheshire Street & Hanbury Street
Notting Hill: a cute area in West London which has a totally different feel from Brick Lane. The charity shops here are a must visit! Especially Fara Charity Shop & Royal Trinity Hospice which are more curated than your average charity shops and have loads of designer. There is also Portobello market on Fridays and Saturdays.
Streets to check out: Portobello Road, Elgin Cresent & Westbourne Grove
Nightlife
Soho: a really fun, lively area with a big lgbt scene.
Camden: I much prefer Camden at night! We found some of our favourite pubs here. The Elephants Head has a great atmosphere! At the weekend it gets super packed and everyone is up dancing and singing. The music is a bit more indie and retro which isn't usually my thing but still fun. The World's End was also cool and had a great atmosphere. The music here was more heavy which again isn't my usual thing but still good!
