I would like share with you my new series, STYLE MEETS
SUBSTANCE. I want to explore the cost of beauty and fashion. Not just
financially but ethically and environmentally. Capitalism continues to push
impossible beauty standards in order to promote consumerism. The industry built
on exploiting workers and insecurities, is also the same one that preaches empowerment.
“All women are beautiful (only if you buy our products)”. To be honest I have
always struggled to balance my feminist and beauty ideals which is something I would
like to unpack. Throughout this series I will be dissecting the larger issues
of the industry and share how we, the average consumer, can help with the
solution.
I also want to take you on my journey of upgrading my beauty
routine and wardrobe. There is a major problem of transparency and traceability
in products from animal testing, water pollution and worker exploitation. I
will be testing and reviewing a range of products from ethical, cruelty free
and sustainable brands. I want to uplift and celebrate people and companies
that are rising up against the system!
